Brixx Update: Teams and new product packages

Hi everyone, we’ve been working hard on our next major update! In July we released sharing, live collaboration, version history and 2 new reports. This month we are bringing out 3 new product packages and introducing Team functionality to Brixx.

In this post I’m also going to address changes to our existing pricing (if this is all you’re interested in, skip to the end!).

New features!

Team

In July we released our first step towards plan sharing in Brixx. This required each person to have their own account and subscription to work together. Now we are introducing team functionality which will allow several users to collaborate in a single shared account under one subscription.

The method of sharing plans between individual Brixx accounts that we introduced in July will still work just the same as always – but Team can be a lower cost and more convenient way to collaborate with your colleagues and trusted partners.

How will Teams work?

As well as inviting someone to view or edit your plan, you can invite them to join your team. New users on a 14 day trial, or those who have purchased Business or Pro packages will be able to add team members.

Teams are intended for people who work closely together on the same plan or plans. Each team is managed by a team owner, who can invite new team members and set permissions for which team members have access to which plans.

Along with Team we have introduced a new ‘People’ page in the account area to make it easy to manage the people on your team and also see who else has been given access to plans on the account.

10 year plans

Since introducing major speed upgrades at the start of the year, we have been intending to expand on the length you can forecast. We are happy to announce it is arriving this update! Users on the Pro subscription package will be able to make plans up to 10 years in length, with the same reporting and data entry controls that exist in the app today.

I’ve always been really excited about adding this feature to the app. In fact, I’m hoping we can have even longer planning horizons in future. Long term planning is how I began my journey into financial planning in the first place, and I’m really keen to make the experience a good one for our users. Expect more features to aid reporting on 10 year plans in the future!

In-app live chat

You may have seen that we have had live chat on our website for some time now – but now we have added this chat feature to the app as well. When you log in you’ll see an orange chat icon in the bottom right of your screen.  You can ask one of us questions directly from your plan. We’ll be available during UK business hours, and should we miss a message from you we’ll respond via email as soon as possible.

New pricing packages!

We haven’t changed our pricing or core product offering since launching in April 2016. It’s been two and half years, and thanks largely to your feedback we now feel that the app is developed enough to move onto a tiered pricing system. We’re still going to be developing new features for the app every month – but for a long time we have felt that we want to align our pricing more with the way we see the app being used.

Basic package (the free version)

The Basic package is the lightweight planning tool we envisioned from the start, free, easy to use and easy to visualise.

Imagine the journey of a business… it all starts with an idea. Our free Basic package is designed for people testing the feasibility of a business idea. Access to the dashboard, a 1 year planning horizon and 3 plans for testing different scenarios or business models provides enough detail to know whether a business idea makes financial sense or not, while not getting into too much detail at this early stage.

Startup package

£15 +tax / month   OR   £144 +tax / year

The Startup package brings in financial reports and 3 year plans, and covers the next step in the journey of the business.

3 year financial reports, including a cash flow, balance sheet and profit & loss, mark the change from the business being just an idea to a reality. Our aim for Startup is that it provides a long enough planning horizon, and detailed enough reporting to fully support a business plan document. 3 years is also a long enough period for short term planning once the business is up and running, making Startup an suitable package for business in the planning stage and those who have recently started…up.

Business package

£30 +tax / month   OR   £288 +tax / year

The Business package introduces 2 new team members, a 5 year plan duration and 10 plans, making it suitable for existing and growing businesses.

As businesses grow, so do both their opportunities and the data they have available to predict the future. Planning over a longer period becomes necessary, as the decisions the business makes now can have a measurable long term impact. Having a 3 person team on this account (for the price of 2 individual accounts) makes Business well suited for people sharing their planning ideas with directors or finance officers within the business and also for collaborating with trusted external parties such as advisors or accountants.

Pro package

£60 +tax / month   OR   £576 +tax / year

The Pro package is our first dip into true long-term planning, with 10 year plan durations. It’s designed for businesses that plan heavily, with 5 team members included in the price and 15 plans available for modelling different companies or running scenario tests.

While our first three packages are aimed more towards business owners themselves, Pro provides a great selection of features for advisors and finance professionals.

I’m already using Brixx for free, what happens to me?

No change! Except you’ll have in-app live chat 🙂 …and a few more upgrade options 😉

I’m already a paying customer, what happens to me?

When we release this update we will be migrating existing paying customers onto the Startup package. However, existing customers will keep all benefits of the old Entrepreneur pricing package – including plan numbers (10 plans) and plan duration (5 years).

As a thank you to our existing customers, we will be giving you an extra team member on the Startup package. This means you can invite a team member to your account and collaborate with them, which would normally require them to purchase their own subscription or an upgrade to the Business package.

You’ll notice that we have changed our pricing to exclude VAT/sales tax. And – to be up front with you – this does mean that some users will see small price increases on their next renewal.

For example, in the UK if you entered your company VAT number when you purchased Brixx, then you will see no change in your price. If you did not, your monthly price will now be £18 (£15 base price, + £3 VAT).

We have not increased our monthly base price since launching the app two and half years ago, and have no intentions to make further price changes in the foreseeable future.

If you are concerned about this or would like to discuss it, please get in touch and let us know.

We have also reduced the cost of Annual subscriptions slightly, in line with the new pricing scheme.

When is the update happening?

We are finalising the update as we speak and performing final tests. If all these tests go well we will be releasing the update on the 25th October.
